Tips for this CV
- 1State your level and cards (electrician's mate, approved electrician, ECS card) and the regulations you work to: it is the first thing an employer looks for.
- 2Describe the type of jobs and the volume: homes, commercial or industrial, and how many you have done.
- 3Mention the specialisms in demand now: EV charging, solar, smart-home wiring.
- 4Do not forget your driving licence and your availability to travel between jobs: in this trade it is nearly required.
What recruiters look for in a Electrician CV
- Your qualifications and card (NVQ Level 3, ECS Gold Card, 18th Edition) and the regulations you work to, with your level.
- Type of work (domestic, commercial, industrial, solar or EV charging) with volume and deadlines.
- Safety and quality: health and safety training, inspections passed first time, a driving licence and your own vehicle if the job requires it.

- Writing only "electrician" without the type of work or your level.
- Not mentioning the NVQ, the 18th Edition or your ECS card, or specialisms such as EV charging or solar.

They measure your ethics and responsibility. Say you do not do it, explain the risk and offer a safe alternative within their budget.

They check coordination. Explain that you plan timing with joiners and plumbers, mark the pass-throughs and hand off each phase with the tests done.

Frequently asked questions
What qualifications and cards go on an electrician CV?
Your NVQ or diploma, the 18th Edition certificate, your ECS card, safety training such as the CSCS or ECS health and safety assessment, specialism courses (EV charging, solar) and your driving licence. List the year for each.
How do I write the CV if I am an electrician's mate?
Say what you do under supervision (containment, cabling, accessories), the training you have and that you are working towards the next level. Employers value willingness to learn and a good attitude.
Should I list every job or only the main ones?
Summarise with numbers (homes, units or square metres) and highlight two or three representative projects. A one-page CV with clear data beats a long list.
